Question:

How do I tell the truth during a job interview and still sound good?

I am miserable at my job right now. My coworkers are backstabbers. My supervisor is a joke. I'm doing the work of 4 people. No one recognizes that I am severely overworked, but they do not hesitate to complain when I don't get something done. My work environment is getting increasingly hostile. I am looking for a new job, and I know that in most interviews, or at least on the application, they ask your reason for leaving. Any suggestions on how I can say this diplomatically?

  1. word it something like...High Stress Environment...most employers will say "Yeah well so is this job.." and that opens it up for you to explain. I'm in the same sitch myself only I love my job, I just work with a few idiots that I have to babysit

  2. You could say this:

"I was not happy with the way I was treated. The working environment was very hostile and I believe I was treated unfairly."

  3. "I'm not in a very good place mentally right now, in fact, I'm having a nervous breakdown.  Please hire me so I can pay my rent so I don't live on the street.  Please sir please"

  4. Hi, I had that issue before, I simply tell the truth for my new recruiter which is I am a hard worker and my fellow workers are taking advantage of it without me being recognized or credited for the good work.

    Best wishes

  5. You're looking for a team environment.  Bosses love to hear that!  They place you're at now is having some growing pains and you are seeing signs that they may be CTD. (circling the drain)  Clean that up and you'll have it!
