  1. If it's gas, it is efficient; if electric, it is not.  An electric dryer takes about three times as much energy out of the ground as a gas dryer does.  Unfortunately, dryers last a long time, and even if you are at the point of replacing one, a gas line may not be conveniently available.

  2. If it is less than 4 years old it probably is.

  3. Dryers don't get Energy Star ratings because they are pretty much all the same. Getting one that senses when the items are dry and automatically stops can save on energy because it keeps you from accidentally overestimating the amount of drying you need.

  4. I hang my clothes out. It gets me outside, the clothes are clean and smell so fresh, they are never wrinkled, and sometimes they will be dry in half the time.  My electric bill went down 100 dollars.

  5. Check the documentation that came with the dryer.  It should have the energy statement included.  GE appliances has all the documentation online.  http://www.geappliances.com/

If you bought the dryer new, it should have the yellow energy statement sticker on the front.

  6. It isn't! Thats why there are pegs.

  7. IF IT DRIES YOUR CLOTHES THE FIRST TIME AND THE DOOR DOES'NT LEAK, BUT MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN OUT THE FILTER AFTER EACH LOAD.
