How do I tell which way is north just by looking at the sun?

the sun rises in the east sets in the west

Dut to that logic if it's in the morning then north is to the left of the sun. If it's in the evening then north is to the right. It may not exactly accurate but it's an easy was to remember.

This depends on the time of day.  If it is before noon, then follow these instructions.  The sun rises in the east, so face the sun, and north is on your left.  If it is after noon follow these instructions.  The sun sets in the west, so face the sun, and north is to your right.  Of course, depending on your latitude, the sun may not be directly above you at noon, so use your best judgment as to whether the sun is on its way up or on its way down.

well the sun rises in east and sets in west then if its b-4 noon then direct yourself so yuor rite side is in the sun and u looking north...if its after noon then put your left side in sun and ur looking north...if it is noon then u cant telll and if there is no sun u cant tell

Take your watch, and point the hour hand at the Sun. (or 1 hour behind the hour hand if you're on daylight savings time) Then halfway between the hour hand and 12 is due south when in the northern hemisphere, and it's due north in the southern hemisphere.

sun always rises in the east and sets in the west. so, is it after noon? then you know that the sun is moving towards the west. if it is before noon, then the sun is coming up from the east. knowing this, we can determine north.
