Question:

How do I terminate a piece of shock cord without using steel parts?

I need to put a loop or hook on the end of a piece of shock cord (bungee cord) but without using any ferromagnetic components (steel, nickel). Stainless steel is probably ok, other metals are fine, but ideally it should be non-metallic.

Can anyone suggest a way to do it?

  1. There are plastic cements you can dip the end into.

You can use thread and whip the ends neatly

You can burn the outside nylon so it doesn't fray

You can tie a knot in the end of the bungee

  2. I have cords that have a plastic hook on the end, instead of a metal one.

Take a look in various stores, you should be able to find these.

    .

  3. Simple knots or thread whipping will do it.
