How do I thin out thick hair?

Are there any ways to make my hair softer? I am a guy with really thick hair, common on us Latinos. And i'm sick of having to use half a tube of gel everyday just to get it to stay down. I am trying to go for a longer hairstyle. Not like a messy skater style but more of an Enrique Iglesias type of style. Any pointers would be appreciated.

alrighty. go to a salon and ask the stylist to thin out your hair. they will cut it in a way that it takes a lot of weight off your hair! if i dont get mine thinned out its way to crazy for me to manage! hah.

and for softer hair use a deep conditioner once a week to lock in  moisture and prevent frizz

whys the person above telling u to get layers. god people know the difference between girls n guys. i would say wash ur hair with hot water n use lots of shampoo and other chemicals. it usually bring lots of hair fall

get a razor cut with layers it will definately thin out your hair.

also you should be happy to have thick hair many people would love to have thick hair rather than thin hair
