I revisited your question and realized that you weren't asking how to tie a horse up with a lead rope, you are asking how to just tie up a lead rope for storage or whatever, right?  The photos that you show are lead ropes that are packaged for sale, once they are opened and loosened up for use, you don't wrap them back in that "twisty thing" that you call it...it would just curl up your lead rope and you want your lead ropes to hand straight...so, after you use your lead rope, you just hang it up, period.  Keep it off the ground and away from chewing critters.

  3. Grab the latch end of the rope and a bit of the rope following and sort of fold it together. wrap the rest of the rope around going downwards and when you get to the bottom put the other end through the little loop. :)
