  1. No joke, do you know which end is the front of the engine. I have found 4 cylinder engine number back words, Or I though so. Any time I am not sure of something on a engine and I do not have a book on the machine, I call the company service manger, and ask him about the machine. Diesel are both 2 and four stroke engine, depending on what engine you have. The GMC and Detroit were all two stroke engines and needed the blower to run,That was why they sounded so good when wound up, and you had to keep them wound up to get any power out of them. When you broke the fuel line to replace the injector, you did bleed out the system. I have be retired for 10 years and I do not know what marks to use, only Cat,  Deere, and Ford. I could not even do one of them with out check the spec. Two cycle, fires ever time the piston is top of stroke. ! power, down stroke. compression  scavage and intake, up stroke. Four stoke, 1 intake, 2 compresson, 3 Power, 4 exhaust. engine fire BTDC of power, to push the piston down, and the flywheel carry the crank back to power, yes there are other cylinder, firing to to help the cycle

  2. You need too remove pump, set engine at #1 top dead center.A top dead whistle really helps. Then set pump back to #1 by looking to see if fuel starts coming out of #1 injector line fitting. Then reinstall pump.
