How do I go from being a person who runs about 15 mins on a machine to running a marathon? I'm in Wiltshire. Are there any running groups? None of my friends are interested in jogging as they're all skinny.

  1. Get your feet on the street and run! Try and map out in distance what you are running..

So say, run 3-5 each day mon-thurs then friday try running 7-10 miles, rest on saturday & sunday, then again on monday,

You'll be upping your distance before you know it!

Have you registered for the london marathon? I tried but its closed now, only for charity runners now but you have to raise so much and I wouldnt be able to do it as no one I know would sponser me.

I want to run a marathon and just recently started running too.. Keep it up and listen to a mp3 player while running, time yourself too, that way you will try to beat your times and it keeps it interesting.

  2. you can play ddr

run the niketown 3-5k in hawaii

  3. Baby steps... if you're starting out running 15 min, then I would suggest a 5k, then a 10k, then a half marathon, and THEN a marathon.

Here is an awesome walk to run (5k) training plan...http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/...

this website is amazing. Once you complete that program, move on to the 10k, and marathon charts they have.

    Enjoy!

  4. Skinny doesn't mean fit!

For a start I would stop running on the machine and get outside - you can run much further and enjoy it much more (even if it's raining, surprisingly!).

Join a running club (Swindon Harriers - www.swindonharriers.com - is Wiltshire's largest athletics club) as you will be more inspired if you're running with others.  It is much easier not to go out if you're on your own - you'll feel as though you're letting people down if you're in a group and don't turn up.

Take it gradually and increase your mileage steadily.

Good luck, and most of all enjoy it!

  6. Im a 400m runner, but my dad ran 12 marthons and his best time was sub 2hours 40mins so pretty good. He used to work in Bermuda as an accountant, so he trained in a hot climate but you dont have that advantage. Anyways, he used to run huge distances in training at a very slow pace, something like 20- 30 miles a day. This may sound a bit daunting, but i suggest starting with around 5 miles a day for a week, then 10 a day for a week, then 15 etc.

Good luck and i hope you do well *,..,*
