  1. Run Forrest run.

  2. I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend the following:

I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle endurance not the muscle bulk. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have a long run. I would start off slowly, running about 2-3 miles per run for the first week and increase my mileage per week. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good Luck!!!

  3. This is from my experience years ago. Start jogging fairly slow and run every day. After about 6 months start speeding up and running hills too to strengthen your legs. During this 6 month period, work on your stomach and abs as much as you can tolerate. If you do this at the end of 6 months you'll be able to run 5 miles and not even breathe hard. Try to get up to 5 miles in the slow jog ASAP and keep it there. Then enter some 10 k races and if you can win them fairly easily you are ready to TRY a marathon. Run one by yourself over a measured track with someone driving along escorting you and carrying some water.

There is no instant way to do it. Marathons are exceedingly difficult and you have to work up to it. It takes at least 6 months and usually a little more, but the rewards of long distance running are GREAT !!!!

  4. You start up going on the treadmill for a certain amount of time every day. Every day do a little bit more time. Then run it the park for a few miles. then you do 5K's 10K's and do alot of them. Then get runners magazines, give you email address to a website that tells you how to train and get books. Then run with the road runners club. Then when you are ready for the marathon do it and after the marathons do LOTS of Epsom salt baths. GOOD LUCK
