Heyy.. I am a 13 year old girl. I want to be a gymnast.. but it is so expensive and I can't afford it.. I also play basketball so I don't want to do it for a sport but for a hobby. What kind of stuff can I do? What are some good stretches to do to be able to do the splitss.. Thanks..

  2. ok well i ve been doing gymnastics for eight years so hers some good stretches...

**do these stretches at least once a day, but try for twice daily. once before bed and once in the morning**

***make sure you hold each stretch for 15 Mississippi***

-sit in straddle (legs spread as far as they can go) and reach for you left, right and down the middle.

-sit in pike (legs in front of you) and reach as far as you can and hold for 15 mississippi or longer**

    - work on your spilts by pushing down a little bit farther each time

-*** banana boats= lay on your back lift your arms and feet off the ground, but only about two inches off the ground, and rock back and forth.. (works every muscle in your body)

you can also lay on your stomach and do them as well

-roll our your neck, ankles and wrists

    -stretch your arms

    -bridges (back bends)

    -push-ups

-crunches** (NOT SIT UPS sit ups aren't good for you crunches are half sit ups)

-table holds* (for working on abdominal muscles) go into the push up postion and go half way down but hold for 15 seconds. extremely good work out

    -(if possible) chin ups.

now please realize that gymnastics has a higher injury risk than football.. so please know your strengths and weaknesses.

i hope you continue to pursue gymnastics and i hope this schedule helps!!

  3. u can't learn gymnastis at home. Unless it's handstands, bridges, cartwheels, forward/back ward rolls. Watching youtube and reading articles on the internet won't give you everything you need to learn gymnastics. See if a gymnastics nearby has open gym, it costs $10 for 2 hrs. They teach how to do gymnastics and spot you. It's dangerous to learn gymnastics without a gymnastis professional who can spot, unless you want to break something.
