My daughter is 3 yrs old n will be going to school this year. I think she might be a left handed child as she uses her left hand to write or scribble anything anywhere. Now, since I m right handed I dont kno how can i train her to write using her left hand cause I myself cant. Would be nice if anyone would help me out here...any techniques that would help me in teaching her the right way to use her left hand to write??

  1. dont bother her to use her left but if she truely is left handed, try doing a mirror image at the table. you sit on one side of it she sits on the other directly across from you. the way she can mirror you and do exactly what you do

  2. Yes - you don't. You can show her how to hold a pencil properly (using either hand) but don't even try to teach her the right way to use her hand to write. Just encourage her to do it, and she will figure out what works for herself. There's no one way to write, and that's even more true for left-handers. If she needs physical help to learn to write then she is not ready to learn yet.

  3. it is very simple . it doest have any special teaching. as your

daughter is small you can teach him now it will be easier to teach her now

  4. I am right handed and my daughter is left handed. I sat across from her. That way our righting hands where on the same side.  This helped greatly. I was told to do this from my sister who is left handed. Also works great when teaching them to tie shoes.

  5. LEAVE HER ALONE AND LET HER USE THE HAND SHE FAVORS!!! i am now a righty. when i was little i favored my left hand...the teachers FORCED  me to use my right hand!!! they should have just left me alone!!! i swear to God, by them forcing me to use a certain hand was unnatural!!! my father was a lefty and brilliant in math. i really think the teachers screwed up my whole "left side, right side" how the brain works scenario. just leave her alone!!

i was positive my youngest was going to be a south paw...until she was 4 years old, she favored her left hand. i left her alone....i let nature take it's course. sure enough, right before she started school, it was overnight...she used her right hand.

  6. I am right handed and so is my daughter's Dad.  My daughter is left handed . Just let her do what comes natural. What school starts kids at 3 years old!? Let her develop naturally!  Don't take away her little childhood.

  7. You train an animal not a child.  I suggest you wait until she is a bit older before you address this "problem" because kids quite often start out as "lefties" then switch as they devlop eye hand co-ordination skills.  If she continues to be a lefty in school the teacher may have things you can do to work with her to help her hone her writing skills.  My eldest is left handed and I never had a problem (I'm a righty).  All three of my kids started out as lefties but only one remained so.

  8. dont stress too much, school will teach your daughter everything she needs to know they deal with this sort of thing every day so they will help you and ask them they will tell you what you can do to improve her handwritting and to get her to write but honestly kids learn quickly and im sure she will pick it up easily as she goes to school :)

  9. She will train herself, providing her with colouring books and things will help her develop the muscles in the hand of her choice that she will use for writing. Some children take longer than others to "decide" whether they are left or right handed.

    She will be fine x

  10. playboy..........its ambidextrous, if your anti you can't use either hand.

My son is left handed, you just let them learn at their speed, their way. I couldn't do it either. Plus lefties usually hold the paper different to make up for the odd posistions we righties put them in.

  11. Hello

I think others may have mis-read your question.

You being right handed will not have any impact when you help your daughter.    She might actually turn out to be right-handed as many children dont "choose" which hand to write with until the end of reception or year one.

  12. im anti dextress.  Meaning i use left and right.  She might be as well.  Theres no training involved.  By the age of 8 and above you will probably be able to tell.

    good luck

  13. I'm left-handed, and both of my sons are righties. I sit on their right side, and hold their hand in mine to help them write. It's always worked for us!
