How do I train my guinea pigs to go to the bathroom in one area? B.C. they go everywhere and the cage stinks!? I clean the cage every week and the next day after I clean the cage it stinks because the go to the bathroom a lot. Please help me! And don't say it can't happen b.c. I've heard it can. So please give me good thorough answers! Best Answer gets 10 points!

Guinea pigs can be trained, I have done it. What I would try is getting like a rabbit litter box, then gather some of their p**p and put it in the litter box, once they see there p**p is one area they will probably want to keep it in one area so they dont get all there space dirty.

I am not sure if this will work, it worked for my guineas but maybe not yours. Also it might be harder depending what s*x your guinea is.

Basically, some can be trained and other can't.  My guinea pig pees and poops everywhere and no amount of effort on my part changes that.

My best suggestion would be to set up a litter box and place hay in it, or place the litter box bellow the hay rack.  This is one of the places where the guinea pig is most likely to spend a lot of time.

As far as the cage smelling, how large is your cage?  A pet store cage is almost always too small and will quickly get dirty and smelly.  Switching to a larger cage will reduce smell and make your guinea pig much more happy and healthy.  Try building a C&C like these:

Why did you delete it? I've already answered this. It's hard and nearly impossible with guinea pigs because they're not as hygenic as cats and rabbits. You need to get some sort of corner litter tray and put a different bedding in it- wood pellet cat litter works the best- and pick up their poo and a bit of their urine and put it in the corner tray, to encourage them to go there.
