  1. I find them unnecessary, but if you choose to use them, you should access a trainer or video to teach you how to use it....there is potential for doing way more harm than good.

  2. dont use a whip ona 3 year old

    that dumb

  3. oo how mean

  4. beat it just beat it

  5. yeah...try other techniques before pulling out the whip. I never used a whip for my stubborn horse...and she trusted me good.

  6. The purpose of the stick is to get the horses attention and better communicate what you want the horse to do.  You typically do not touch the horse with the stick, and you never whip the horse with it.  The whip part is to crack in the air so that the horse can hear it, not to whip the horse.

You put the horse on a lunge line and use the stick to help the horse know which direction you want it to go in and how fast (away from the stick).

  7. I think that whips are animal abusive b/c you watch people on TV use them over excessively and you can tell that the animals are being harmed. If you choose to though, just use it to train him, nothing else. Life if you're wanting the horse to do something with its leg hit the leg with the stick and so on.

  8. First you need to make sure he's not terrified of a whip, which you do by introducing it to him in a non-threatening way, and progressing to rubbing him with it all over his back and legs, etc.  Once he's not afraid of it, you teach him to respect it, by either pointing it at his hips and asking him to go forward, tapping him if necessary, increasing the pressure until he moves forward.  With a longe whip, you can snap it to make a noise, if he's not listening to swooshing the whip toward his hip or hocks, or to tapping his butt.  Horses will differ in how much pressure (motion, noise or actual contact) you need to put on them to get them to respond.  You should never use the whip to cause physical pain, unless the horse actually shows violence toward you, then you respond immediately  ( 2 seconds later is too late) and forcefully, then forget it ever happened.  Hope this is the kind of advice you were seeking.

  9. if he moves away from you then he respects you and will learn from you

the stick or whip is just an extension of your arm and he will learn that and when you put the stick behind him then he will move away from it...and move forward
