do u mean kitten to adult? start by introducing the new food not as meal food, but as a treat. if your cat responds to them in any positive way, give it little hand fulls. if it eats it, start to mix it in with it's old food and slowly use less and less of the old food. if that cat is not responding well to the new food, try other adult foods, different flavors, different brands. recommended brands: fromm, wellness, science diet or  innova/california natural/evo (in that order. these are excellent brands that are good for your cat. iams and whiskas can cause many health problems.

I had the same problem with my kitten. We bought the soft can stuff and mixxed it with people food then mixxed the soft stuff with regular food. basically introduce it slowly. if your kitten is young enough they will get used to the idea. and will soon realize they are supposed to eat the other food!

Introduce it slowly. Give him his old food while slowly mixing in the new. Add a little more every day over the period of 2 weeks, and he should be fine.
