Question:

How do I train my voice to sound like Utada Hikaru's?

I've been told I can kinda sound like her when I sing stuff like Passion, Devil Inside, Kremlin Dusk (I CAN hit the high notes, it's just my accent that gets in the way...sounds like a little kid), Can You Keep a Secret, and a few others. But I don't believe them well enough

I can't have a trainer.

But I have been practicing.

Should I keep practicing and do you have any tips for me?

I'm 14, and I realize my voice is still developing. But what should I do until then?

I can make myself sound like Cascada, to Simple Plan, to Linkin Park, to Sugarland, to Ayumi Hamasaki to Christina Agulara, but I can't sound like Hikki! AND I REALLY REALLY WANT TO!!!! lol!

  1. Well, since you can't have a trainer then yeah, the best thing to do is to keep practicing. And you're young, so yeah your voice is still developing like you said. If you can't hit all of the notes, don't let that discourage you.

One thing that Hikki (Utada) is very well known for is her vibrato-style of singing. Try researching "vibrato" on wikipedia and any other sites you can find to perfect this form of singing.

Last but not least I would recommend that you listen to more of her music. I know that you mentioned lots of her English works as well as Passion, but how familiar are you with her Japanese works? As a matter of fact, these are some of here greates songs. To date she has released 5 Japanese albums First Love, Distance, Deep River, Ultra Blue and most  recently Heart Station.

Here are some songs I recommend you check out on Youtube or anywhere else so you can get a better grasp on how she sounds (these are some of her best songs too in my opinion hehehe)

Dareka negai ga kanau koro- http://youtube.com/watch?v=PKkNH7cgFN4

    Prisoner of Love- http://youtube.com/watch?v=US9qiAw6DNI&f...

    Letters- http://youtube.com/watch?v=bVskLWV_9Ko

Hope the songs help. Good luck!
