Does anyone know what the easiest way is to transfer all my 35mm slides to digital form? Or, if there is a machine available that would turn 35mm slide pictures into digital? I don't want to send them out, I want to transfer them myself.......

  1. Several options, best to worse quality:

Send them out to be professionally scanned. Expensive. Huge files.

Buy a slide/film scanner. High investment cost. Lots of work, scanning and cleaning up the scans.

Use a DSLR to photograph the slide/film. High investment cost. Lots of work. Generally similar quality to slide/film scanner.

Send them out to be scanned -- lower quality. Less expensive, smaller files.

Use a flatbed scanner. Cheaper investment cost. Lower quality than dedicated film/slide scanner. Less cleanup of scanned images.

  2. B&H and or Adorama will have scanners put make sure they can scan slides as well as negatives.

I tell you what when I look at a Velvia 50 slide on my light box I wonder why I bought a DSLR  and well money is the only reason hahahahah
