How do I transfer a sipgate call using the x-lite softphone?

I have started using the sipgate softphone for voip calls, but have a wee prob. When I receive a call and want to transfer the call to another number (to a felow sipgate user or anyone else) the "TRANSFER" button at the button at the bottom of the x-lite user interface does nothing at all. How do I get this to work as I really want to be able to transfer calls!

Thanks for your help.

  1. Call Transfer function is not available on CounterPath X-Lite configurable softphone.

Even though the button is there, it is disabled.

    Why?

Because "X-Lite" is the scaled-down "showcase" version of the CounterPath EyeBeam 1.5 softphone.

To get all the features and potential of the CounterPath softphone you have to "up-grade" to the EyeBeam 1.5 softphone.  All the extra features are enabled in the EyeBeam 1.5.

This PDF by CounterPath illustrates the Feature Comparisons between X-Lite, EyeBeam, and their newest phone called "BRIA"

I used the X-Lite last year and it worked ok but had some problems with static noise on softphone.  So, I upgraded to the EyeBeam.... for $70!

I thought EyeBeam would be the cats meow.... but I ended up having even worse problems with Eyebeam.  After many complaints with CS and round and round and not solving the issues I demanded my money back.... which eventually I got.

I also had many problems using SJ Phone, another well know reputable softphone develper.  I don't understand why these well known products have so many problems???

Then I tried WengoPhone by OpenWengo... and it works great with many different SIP service providers.

    http://www.openwengo.org/

It is Open Source and free.

It is one of the easiest configurable softphones I have used yet.... and it's free.

I have half a dozen different SIP service providers configured into it and I can switch services with just a couple clicks of a button.

I use it with InPhonex and CallCentric VoIP services (links through my profile).

But I also use it with Voip.ms, Les.net, SipPhone, and IdeaSip..... WengoPhone works with all those services.

I have also used the NCH Swift Sound VoIP softphone with some success (called ExpressTalk):

    http://www.nch.com.au/talk/index.html

InPhonex provides a preconfigured version of this ExpressTalk with their free Peer-Peer VoIP In-Network calling option.  Or use pay-as-you-go PC-phone calling with it.

  2. you simply put the x lite softphone  cord A in the 573.8 port on the sipgate, which is located next to the the 573.9 port. Now after you do that then u would insert the Xgourt into a reuge port, which is commenly located in the back of a frezzer. hope i could help.
