I bought two songs on itunes on my home computer and copied them onto an external hard drive (like USB) and now I want to put them into my itunes library on my college computer. I'm pretty sure I can authorize that but I can't figure a way to do it? If I paste the songs into the Itunes library folder it will play the song if my external hard drive is plugged in but not if I unplug it.

  1. you can either open up your itunes then open up your drive going through my computer and just click and drag them. This would be the easiest if you didnt want everything on your itunes. otherwise on itunes go to file then open folder. Find your drive through that and then it should download everything compatible (songs, pics, videos). Now about playing when you external drive is not plugged is a problem. See itunes doesn't download the songs it just simply keep the file location in memory and when you click to play it then it goes to that location and plays it. So you have to keep it plugged in if you want to play your songs. otherwise move your songs onto your computer and then replace them in itunes so it will keep that location in memory and u can travel and listen without your external drive.

  2. Add the songs to itunes by pasting it like you said in you question and then go to advanced and choose consolidate library and when the window comes up click yes and your songs will be copied into itunes and you wont need the external hard drive to play your songs anymore

  3. 1st plug your usb to ur comp then go on itunes then on menu it will say import then go to my computer on the pop up then fing the usb the click into it and find the song then click on it and it in ur library
