Question:

How do I transfer files from a DVD+RW to my computer?

I have a samsung SC-D173U camcorder. I recorded things from it onto a DVD+RW. I can insert the dvd into my computer and play it, but I can not seem to find how to upload the files from the DVD onto my computer. I have read that I need to finalize the DVD+RW, but my camera will not allow me to finalize this type of dvd. (I think this may be possible with other forms, such as DVD-RW which I do not have.)

How do I go about uploading my dvd onto my computer as files/one file.

Thanks so much.

  1. If you can see the .vob files thru windows explorer, you can upload these to pc.

    Download application to rip the files

    View miniDVD video files (videos - .vob) in pc

    - open windows explorer (right click on start @ left bottom of desktop

    - click on Explore=>drive E:/dvd/Video_TS/*.vob =>can view those w/ file extention *.vob

    Download Windows Media Encoder (free)

    - Convert a file=>New session

    - Browse =>drive E: dvd/ *.vob file for conversion

    - convert: to .avi (best quality-have hdd capacity?) or .wmv

    Play .avi or .wmv files in Windows Media Player
