How do I transfer files from one word-processing program to another program?

The word processing programs have to handle a common format, so the file can be converted by the first program and read by the second.  .rtf (Rich Text Format) is a common format, but may lose specific features of the original word processor over and above the ones the target word processor doesn't support.

Check the original program's Save As file type list and the target program's Open file type list for common types.

Until you get a good conversion procedure working, use a COPY of the original file.
