How do I transfer film footage from the Canon XL1S video camera to a imac for editing?

I have a Intel Core Duo iMac (the original model) with Final Cut Pro installed. Any help appreciated

EQUIPMENT:

firewire cable

at the back of the XL1 there is a long rounded flap open it and you will find fire wire connection, connect via this to your fire wire on your PC.

turn on your camera and it will be detected by the O/S

open up final cut and got to capture, off you go simple. leave the settings as they are, except check if its NTSC or PAL and select the one for your country.
