you don't have to road test but you need to take your written test and get a medical card and if you have hazmat go through the tsa process all over again yes it is very extreme you, feel like your a rookie all over again I also moved to ca from fl  71 dollars for your cdl and 86.50 for your tsa fingerprinting process and tsa will tell you it will take 4 to 5 weeks before you receive your clearance

  2.  You will have to pay a fee for the Class A, Get your medical exam, endorsements, and a regular driving road test. and a TSA check for Hazmat...

  3. Funny- I'm in the same boat.  I'm moving to CA from FL.  About a year ago I went to the CA DMV-  and was told I have to re-take the CDL Class A written including any endorsement tests- hazmat, tanker, doubles, etc.
Complete medical or show valid medical card- (no longer than 2yrs. old) and complete and show proof of a valid drug screen.  CA is the only State I know of that requires all this in order to transfer a valid CDL from another State.  Seems a little extreme, especially if your CDL is in proper order.
Anyway, this is all I have found so far. I am wondering if you have to road test also???  Seems I'm just going to have to move and begin the process.
