  1. If you have laptop with S-Video - do not get your hopes up, that is only output, not an input. Laptops with S-Video inputs do exist, but in the very high price level, not the "regular" ones.

You need analog - digital converter and there are two basic types:

    1)

If you are in buying a new computer (or you wanna play more games on your old one and you need better videocard) ask for videocard which has S-video input or "composite video input" (you would need s-video / regular video converter plugged between cam and comp) - it is fast and you have less clutter on your desk. Then you plug the s-Video cable from your cam into that videocard and if needed (depends on the card) audio plug into your sound card Line-in jack.

    2)

If you're not buying new computer and you do not want to upgrade your videocard, than you need USB videoconverter, something like this:

There is uncountable number of them with prices from somewhat $40 to several hundred. Just google "digital USB videoconverter"

If you are using laptop with "old" PCMCIA card slot, there are PCMCIA videocapture cards as well.

Some capturing sw is usually included with the card/device and you can use Windows Movie Maker as well - it does have capture mode from any video source.

    Have fun....
