Connect the firewire cable to your camcorder and PC and switch the camcorder to playback mode.  Whichever editor you're using will have a video capture feature - in Windows Movie Maker it's File / Capture Video.  Some editors have a scene detection facility so that your captured video is broken up into smaller files - enabling / disabling that is usually an option.
