  1. when finished clipping, get the motor mower out, set the blade up 2 notches, then sprinkle round your plants as mulch, to help speed up the rot mix blood and bone in the mix

  2. I have placed old sheets or cloths under the shrub to catch the clippings.  I then rake the shrub to make the clippings on top fall down (I use the rake mostly on Junipers) and then slip the sheet out to dump in the trash.

  3. what i do is put them under the hedge in the dirt and they will rott and feed the soil with nutrients , kind of like fertilizer

  4. If the hedges aren't too close to the house, raking the clippings under them would provide mulch, which will break down over time, conserve moisture in the soil, and provide nutrients.  In nature, many shrubs are self-mulching.  If the hedges are too close to the house, raking them up and putting them elsewhere might be a good idea in order to prevent bad bugs like termites, carpenter ants, powder post beetles, and other wood-eating insects from finding their way into your house.
