How do I turn a full barrel of water into 1/2 barrel exactly without using anything other than yourself?

no tools, no extra barrels, nothing... I just heard this from someone and this is the way it was presented to me

    you could scoop it w/ ur hands, pour some out, drink some, or even do a combination of the previous 3.  it all depends on how you want to approach this problem.

First, choose your barrel standard.  42 gallons, for example.  The weight of half a barrel of water is about 168 pounds.  Fill the barrel with its standard volume of water, and tip the barrel so it is just about to overflow.  Suspend a 200-pound person on a spring scale until the scale reads 32 pounds.  At that point, they have displaced half a barrel of water, leaving half in the barrel.  If the scale counts as a tool, use another means to find a person who displaces 168 pounds when floating in water.

    Or use your body parts as a ruler to figure out where the center of the barrel is, and empty to there.

    when one bottom side and top side are "touched" (opposite sides) you have a half of water in there
