  2. using final cut pro or imovie?

iMovie can rotate photos or video clips in your source video or projects. This is especially useful for reorienting your images if you’ve taken a photo or video with your camera held sideways.

If you make a change in your source video, the change will be reflected in any future project to which you add the altered video. Your source video does not reflect changes you make to video clips in the project.

To rotate a photo or video:

Click a photo or video clip in your project, and then click the Crop button.

If you’d selected only part of a clip, the selection changes to include the entire clip because the crop applies to the entire clip.

Click one of the rotation buttons at the top of the viewer (they look like curved arrows).

Each click turns the image by 90 degrees. With the new orientation, the image may no longer fit the project’s aspect ratio and black bars will appear at the top and bottom of the image (letterbox) or on its left and right sides (pillarbox).

To crop the image so that it fits the aspect ratio, click Crop in the upper-left corner of the viewer and adjust the crop rectangle to show the part of the image you want.

The size of the crop rectangle doesn’t exceed the dimensions of the aspect ratio. (If you decide you don’t want to crop your image, click Fit.)

Click the Play button in the upper-right corner of the viewer to preview the image.

When you’re satisfied with the image, click Done.
