I don't want butterflies or anything. I love the color blue. I like black furniture. I am kinda a tomboy too.

  1. Blue is my favourite colour, but it is tricky as a wall colour.  I once visited a home that had light blue walls and blue carpet, and it was terrible!  You might consider doing a "feature wall" in a bold colour, like blue.  Remember that the colour will seem way more intense on the wall than on the paint chip.  Make sure you take the paint chip home to your room to see how it will look in your light.

If your furniture is not already black, I suggest spray paint rather than painting by brush, as black is not very forgiving, especially if it has any gloss to it.  If you do decide to paint with regular paint, use one of those small foam rollers to apply the paint.

Your could also paint a wide stripe in black down one part of your blue accent wall to tie it in.  A nice graphic comforter or duvet cover could be nice.  Check out Ikea.  Pick out the bedding (and curtains?) first, then the paint after as it is much easier to match up that way.

The nice thing about paint, is if you don't like it, you can just repaint!

Final thought:  keep your ceiling white!  It drives me nuts when I see decorators painting the ceiling different colours.  The light is much nicer with a white ceiling, and it is also easier if you want to change your colours later.

  2. Maybe you can paint your walls with blue and green stripes, or put up wall paper with blue and green stripes. Your blanket could be blue with a bit of girly lace at the ends. And you could have a furry space rug that is bright blue. If you have any stuffed animals, display them cutely on your bed.

  3. Your options are ENDLESS. Just remember this and you can decide for yourself: You DON'T HAVE TO USE "THINGS" to decorate like: butterflies, flowers, or any "theme" like that. Usually it's BEST and EASIEST if you DON'T anyway. Just pick a couple "accent" colors that you like up next to your fave shade of blue, and go from there. ALSO, remember: SIMPLE IS BEST... Keep it to a minimum, DON'T OVERDO it... Good Luck!!!

  4. Do you like bright colors? I would go to a paint store & get some wall paper with bright strips, or circles. It will brighten up the room for you a lot and it's not TOO girly. I would also go to like WalMart or a discount store and get some bright pillow cases for your bed. Pick up some smaller pillows too & cover them with bright colored materials. Have fun!
