How do I turn off the IM alert on the AOL browser?

Question

Whenever I have a program open above AOL and someone IM's me, an alert appears at the bottom right of the screen with a snippet of what that person has said to me. I managed to turn this off on an old computer but it doesn't seem to turn off now. I've found the option that seems to correspond to it, and have tried ticking and unticking the box but it doesn't work! Am I looking in the wrong place?

It's just annoying not to have privacy in case someone decides to be nosey and look at the screen. >>

on your buddy list click on setup and then on im settings go to general im and uncheck the one that says (display notifications in the lower right corner when new ims are receive) and save !
