I have Vista 2006 home premium and Mcafee 8.1 (security center) ... I keep getting this annoying popup saying something like mcafee "is out of date" and then there are only 2 options "remind me later" or "update now"? ... how about don't remind me later!!! How can I turn this off? And yes- I tried the customer service chat and they are painfully NOT HELPFUL ... and possibly mentally retarded. I hope someone out there has some ideas. Thanks!

  1. You just click on don't show this message again. If that doesn't work then I will find out more for you

  2. Was it a trial? if it is then you need to pay for it.. if it wasnt a trial then update it.. right click on it and click update and it should update.

    Good Luck

  3. click "update"

    or uninstall it.

edit after the initial instructions were mistaken as a troll post:

If you update the software and it'll stop nagging you. It tells you to update because if it's not bleeding-edge you're susceptible to new virus threats.

If you don't want to ever see it ever, just uninstall it.

I recommend installing AVG antivirus at http://free.grisoft.com, which updates itself automatically and doesn't nag you.

  4. you should just update it, because i dont think you can turn off the popups. they are there because if it goes out of date you are open to viruses.

  5. ok this maybe a dumb question but are your virus definitions up to date? If they are then block popups in you browser settings, if your definition ar NOT upto date , go the "update now" option and popup will go away. This ain't rocket science. So this forum is better than McAfee customer service? If they are saying to uninstall then you suscription has expired?
