When I take the doors off, there is nothing to keep the door jam button in to keep the interior lights off. I couldn't figure how to make it stay off.

  1. disconnect the battery, remove the fuse or remove the bulbs. Or put some duct tape over the switches

  2. any one who says to take the fuse out is dead wrong, because the fuse also controls your dash lights. very dangerous if driving in the dark. and you could take the bulbs out, but its a pain. duct tape looks goofy when you have it on just the one little spot, and doesn't always stay put. you could drive around with your foot on the button, but that is kinda hard if you have a man tran. best bet is to use the little clip thingy, which i actually found at my local auto zone. it was 7.99 for a set of two. have fun!!

  3. They actually make a part specifically for this.  It is a little spring and clip the grabs the plunger of the door jamb switch and holds it in.  Try www.quadratec.com for them.  They are also inexpensive, but not as cheap as taking out the bulbs.  If you get a 2007 and up wrangler they do not need this when you unplug the doors to remove them the switch circuit remains open just like if you had the doors shut.

  4. A cheap fix is to hot glue a penny over the door button, then remove with a blow dryer!!

  5. Turn the headlight switch all the way to the left (if not to the right), that will shut them off. But your dash lights won't be on...

  6. Can you push the dome light button several times to deactivate them? My Chevy does that.

  7. take out the globe?
