How do I turn on the bed lights for a 99 Ford Ranger?

I thought the two regular lights right next to my brake light on the back of my cab were just backup lights. Just this past weekend my brother was talking with me about them and said that on his F350 work truck, you turn them on by turning the dimmer for the dash all the way up. We tried it on my truck and nothing happened. I tried searching on google and all I could find were places trying to sell parts to rangers.

There has to be a way to turn on the lights, they wouldn't be there for no reason I can't imagine.

He's right, dimmer switch. Just rotate until it stops, then gently push a little harder and it should click. Or just open the door. Make sure the bulbs aren't burnt out, they do go.

did your dimmer click or anything? sometimes there is a pushbutton on the dash by the dimmer rotator.
