How do I turn on the multi tap for my blackberry pearl 8110?

So It is constantly on, for everything?

I'm new to all of this, can you give me some useful tips for the phone as well if possible?

  1. To enable MultiTap permanently you need to go to Options > Language and change the Input Language option to English > (United States, MultiTap). This should enable MultiTap for everything.

    That being said I would encourage you try giving the SureType another try. It really does allow you to type much faster on your device. I have found that I can type faster using the SureType of the BlackBerry Pearl than I could with the full QWERTY keypad BlackBerry.
