How do I turn this story into like a newspaper article?

Okay, How would I change this roughly written story into a good story which sounds like it was found in a newspaper article? :

Monday i went to berry springs, and had lunch there for about 2 hours then we went for a long swim up the river thing, we swam for about 10 minutes untill we reached the area where the rocks are, we then jumped of the rocks for about half an hour. it was a very fun day, the next day we went to the movies... etc

Please help, you dont need to write the story out if you dont want to, I mean like show me what the story would sound like if it was found in a newspaper article.

First a title for the article - could be 'Fun Day Out'  or similar.

Then you need to make short, informative sentences.  Remember to give place names capital letters.
