I tried removing the program from the control panel but it never goes away. Is there any way to get rid of this if I dont have any antivirus or malware programs? Another interesting thing is, when I tried doing a system restore, my computers last and only restore point is for today, about the same time I got this virus or malware. I can't even go back to a restore point from last month.

  1. Well you have an infection as a tech i have been seeing a lot of computers with this infection it is easy for someone like me to remove. But it is as not as simple as uninstalling it. It will reinstall itself right when you restart the computer it has attached itself in the windows registry.

You cannot remove the files when they are active you will have to find an bootable cd like Ultimate Boot Disk  it is free

The Removal guide can be found here

I would backup all data and reinstall windows that is the most effective.

The Win anti virus is trying to get you to buy the product claiming that it can remove it really it makes things worse. I am in the wrong job I should do this stuff lol… they are making money hand over fist.

However I cannot see myself conning people like this people do.

  2. I would suggest that you get Avast. It is free for personal use.

Yesterday, my free anti-virus caught a trojan virus.

To ensure that the virus caught is not a false positive, I upload it to virus total web site to check.

    http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/c3558...

To my surprise, all the big names in Anti-virus industry cannot detect the trojan. The one that detect the trojan are mainly the free version.

Avast boot scan in Windows safe mode is the most effective way to get rid of stubborn trojans and viruses that keep coming back to haunt you.

These trojan and viruses hide themselves in system restore folder and many anti-virus programs cannot get rid of them. So whenever, you restart your PC,

the viruses are restore back by WIndows.

Avast boot scan help to get rid of them in the system restore folders and ensure your system are clean.

  5. Well, system restores are monthly, and it is a new month. It probably cleared. Go to start>control panel>add or remove programs and click on Antivirus XP 2008 and click remove. Then go here http://www.ccleaner.com/ and download it and use it. Fix your registry, and clean. It isn't a huge program so it will take about 5 seconds to download. It will clean out your computer and fix your registry. When it cleans, it will clean out your computer's cookies. Hopefully it works! If these don't work, email me. kvnlm2010@yahoo.com I will try to help you with it. I need more details if this does not work.

  6. Hello,

Download MalwareBytes AntiMalware & scan your pc to remove it. The Download & instructions link is below.

-Antivirus XP 2008 is a rogue antivirus program, that displays false information stating that you are infected, when your not infected. It's from the makers of Win Antivir 2008. It also displays fake alerts on your computer which is just another tactic to scare you into purchasing the program.

Then use this Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool afterwards to fix your wallpaper & screensaver- http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hija...

Next time check to see if the software you want download is on download.com, if it is, its safe.(As Power AntiVirus 2009 is not)
