How do I unplug the high beams in my 1992 Chevy Lumina?

My high beams won't turn off whenever I drive at night. I don't need high beams because we only drive in the city and we're getting rid of the car in about two weeks, but I can't drive with my brights on everywhere. Is there a quick fix or should I just unplug the high beams? How do I do that?

  1. The high beams come on automatically when the low beams quit. Or, you have a bad high beam switch and the low beams won't work. The high and low beam wires are on the same connector, so you'd have to cut the high beam wire to disconnect it, and splice it back together when you wanted to hook them back up again.

  2. unplug the headlight from the innermost headlamp on each side

  3. look for a fuse for the high beams and you can just pull that out.

  4. in some cars you can find a fuse for the high beams. i would pull that.
