How do I unzip files?

I am pretty sure I have Windows. Please help.

  1. Unless the ZIP file is password-protected, you should be able to just double-click it, view the contents, and copy them to wherever.

But the real question is, what kind of files are you unzipping?  Are they .zip files - any archive program should work on those.  EXE files should open by themselves - be careful, they might be malware (where did you get these files?)  .rar files need WinRAR, a pay program that has a trial version.

    Once you have the right program installed, just click on the file to be unzipped and the decompression program should open automatically.
