How do I upgrade this PowerMac G3?

So I have an old powermac g3 with 400mb ram. I was wondering if i could put in a apple dvd-rom drive for the thing, an new IDE Drive that's like 80GB. And i want to put mac os x tiger on it. would it still boot up from the dvd if the new HDD was in???
