How do I use Matrix Vlight on my hair?

I already have bleached blonde hair (done professionally) but my roots are showing about 2 inches now. I can't afford to keep having it done professionally, so I'd like to do it myself. I found Matrix Vlight for sale on ebay. My roots are medium brown. I know I need developer, but what level? How much should I mix it with, how long should I keep it on? I'd like to do only my roots, but I'm worried it might not match, should I just do my whole head? Or maybe foil highlights? How can I prevent getting that brassy orange color?

As a stylist I don't recommend doing it yourself.  However if you must, use 10 volume with it.  Make it the consistency of sour cream and put a plastic cap on your head to keep the product moist.  Leave on about 45-60 minutes.  You may need a toner because it may be bright.  Everyone may tell you to use a stronger developer but that will just make your head itch and burn.  The heat from your scalp gives the product a little boost so you don't need stronger developers.  To keep the color more uniform next time don't wait until you have 2 inches of regrowth.
