I bought an HP A6540D Desktop Package from a computer store. It has Genuine Windows Vista pre-installed with few HP add-ons. The salesman asked me to buy 2 DVD-R discs and launch a program called "Recovery Disc Creation". The computer took about 1 hour to finish the writing process. The writing of files on both DVDs were successful. Now, I want to use those discs to recover my PC to its Original Manufacturer Settings. How do I use those disks to recover my PC? The 2 DVDs doesn't contain any instructions or setup launchers. The computer also said that only one set of recovery disks can be made per PC. Do the trials and OEM software will be re-installed? And do the installed programs will be removed? Please provide a step-by-step procedure on using the 2 Recovery DVD disks! Please also answer the other questions above! Thanks for the reply!

  1. First of all put in disk 1-turn off computer and then reboot (turn on).Does your computer start with the disk or normal? If it starts with the disk then fallow instructions-when you get to the point of install disk 2-then do it-and continue. If that doesn't work or he will NOT boot, you will have to go to BIOS and change your BOOTING ORDER to CD-HDD-Floppy-F10 OK.

If that also fails you will have to make a Boot disk first-check in the link. But try everything first before you use that Boot disk.

Yes, all the data that was on your computer will be removed by this process. So it will be like out of the box.
