How do I use a GIF avatar on forums?

I found this cool GIF avatar that is a guy banging his head on the PC. Problem is that when I upload it to the forum the picture doesn't move. It stays on the first frame. How do I make the moving avatar I downloaded work properly?

not all forums allow gif as avatars. make sure gif is allowed.

you mean that black and white picture with the guy banging and bleeding and the eyeballs fall out.
