How do I use a flash drive?

I just bought a USB 2.0 Flash Drive but I have no idea how to use it. The directions are of no help at all. Please help me! Thanks in advance.

Plug the drive in to your USB opening on your computer. On a mac a little white box will pop on your desktop that usually says, 'Untitled. On a PC it will pop in My Computer as External Drive.
