How do I use a font that I downloaded?

I extracted it from WinZip, and saved it to Windows/Font folder, but it won't show up in my PowerPoint font drop down.

If you actually did put the TTF file in Window\Fonts, try restarting the system to see if it shows up.

What type of a font is it? TTF? OTF?

Might be worth trying this: Control Panel -> Fonts

In that window, go to File -> Install New Font and point to where your font is.

If that happens, you should go to Control Panel -- Fonts, and if it's XP, go to menu File -- Install new fonts; if it's Vista, right click on a blank area, and select "install new fonts". Install your new fonts and you should be able to see them.
