How do I use a long PVC pipe to extend the stem from the vase on a regular hookah?

I will be using a regular stem and vase from a hookah but I want to make the area between the two longer by using a PVC pipe, possibly making the hookah a total of 7 or 8 feet. I have seen this done and the smoke produced was phenomenal.

If you donnt give a **** about the way it looks just use rags and duck tape for the connections. put the vase part on a chair connect the pipe and tape them to the back of the chair so it doesnt fall apart. then just put the stem in the top and wrap the rags around the conection and use ducktape to hold it. I did something similar with a home made bong. 0==(-:

It doesn't seem that easy actually, mostly more involved than it's worth in my opinion. But I think I understand what you are wanting. First you will need a long piece of half inch pvc pipe secured to the downstem so the stem can reach the water otherwise you should just use a pipe. Then use a long peice of 2 inch pvc pipe for the connection between the stem and base. I would use duct tape to secure it. won't look pretty but it's doable.
