How do I use a pencil type tyre pressure gauge on a Presta valve? I keep just letting air out!?

  1. If it a skinny valve stem not normal like on your car, etc. you can get a valve stem adapter that allows you to use a standard pump, valve cap and pressure gauge at any bike shop.

    If its is a normal valve  stem you may not be pushing it on straight and hard enough, your angle may be off for some reason. Maybe the angle on the gauge is not right for your application

    I just bought a pressure gauge at A***Zone, and it was faulty, the little piece in the center was to far inside of itself, causing the same problem that your having..


  2. You can get an adapter to s***w on the end of the presta valve so you can air it with a schrader type pump. You can get by with it but it is not the most accurate method. It is best to get a gauge dedicated just for presta. It's about $3 at you LBS.

  3. Get an adapter.  Get a tire pump that has a presta fitting. Schwinn makes one.
