I want to use my headset connected to my PC to answer phone calls. My PC as a modem RJ 45 socket. I dont want to use any VOIP solution. I know it should be possible because I've received faxes with my PC so it should be something similar

  1. The first program below claims to be capable of allowing you to use your pc as an ordinary phone. I haven't got the right lead to try it out.

The second program makes similar claims, but also has answer machine capabilities.

  2. try skype its pretty kool

  3. Fax and Voice are not similar.  You were able to receive faxes because you have a fax communications software on your computer to do so.  If you want to do voice, you need some kind of voice communications software, which I do not think exists.

  4. no matter how you slice it, its "all" VoIP voice over Internet protocol....some use software , some use a modem....! I'm not sure what you're looking for??

  5. You need a phone communication software to do that. I have used it before I started using Skype. The phone communication software comes with a dial pad. I’m not sure why you don’t want to use FREE Voip. Any particular reason for that??

There are many free VoIP providers – Skype, AOL, Google Talk etc. Some of these free Voip services come with a trial VoIP phone service also. You can use your headset with these Free VoIP. I would highly recommend using free VoIP. Here’s some info on free voip:
