How do I use my digital recorder as a computer microphone?

I have a sony icd recorder and i'm running acid music studio, I ordered a shure microphone so I know this isn't a long term fix, i just want to start recording, I have an audio cable connecting me to my input, but I still don't know what to do.. please help!!??

  1. You cannot connect the shure microphone to your digital voice recorder.  You need something that has an "XLR" input.  A computer audio interface will have an XLR input:

    The mic will connect to the interface and the output of the interface will connect to a USB port on your computer.
