Question:

How do I use my inline chlorine dispenser?

I opened my inline dispenser and filled it with pucks but I don't think the pool system is using them because after more than 24 hours the pool isn't showing any chlorine in the tests. Is there supposed to be water in the dispenser or something (there isn't)?

thx

  1. This is a regular happening with feeders.  The water supply hole in the metering valve quite often gets debris in it and this clogs or restricts water coming in.  Are the tabs damp?  If they are your reservoir is a self draining type and when the pump is off the water drains out to preserve chlorine.

I have found invaluable a small flow gauge attached to the supply side.  Water going in means chlorine going out.  Though on in line dispensers this is impossible to do.

These feeders are erosion types and the trichlor they typically contain dissolves slowly over time.  It is best to establish the residual chlorine level first 1-3ppm with 5max when using them.

Cyanuraic acid, conditioner and stabilizer all refer to the same thing.  Minimum of 30ppm will allow the chlorine in the pool to live longer otherwise the CL quickly goes away!

    You're welcome!!

  2. The pucks are very slow dissolving and are for maintenance of an already well balanced pool.  Shock your pool to get the levels up..make sure your Ph and alkaline levels are within range too or the chlorine will not stick around.
