I've heard that you can use salt as a weed and grass killer. Do you have to mix it with water? What are the proportions? Please answer only if you know. Thanks.

  2. no... don't use salt.... it will make your soil unable to grow something else for a long time.... salt KILLS everything.... you don't see much growing on the beach, do you?... read here...

  3. Rock Salt and lots of it. Just sprinkle it

  4. mix the salt with gasoline and put the mixture on the unwanted area then trow a lit match on it and walk away

  5. I've used salt full strength on pesky weeds.  But even very salty water will do the same.

Yes, it takes a few weeks for the soil to regain its strength, for as long as it takes for the salt to leech out.  But the soil WILL be usable again.

It's best to cut the weeds first (mow the yard) and let the salt get into the freshly-cut stems for faster absorbtion.  The weeds will turn yellow and brown in a day or two, and then you can pull out the weeds with ease.

But be careful will salt...it doesn't discriminate.

  6. I would prefer boiling water or vinegar or both.

  7. Salt and bleach will do the trick! But don't plan on growing anything in that spot for a while.

  8. Soapy water !

    That kills it

  9. There's no mixing involved.  Just sprinkle from the container on a dry day.

  10. epson salts diluted in water is the only salt remedy i have heard of useing in the garded but i use that to keep slugs away i dont no if you could try that ? hope it helps
