How do I use the OEM helmet lock on a honda magna?

I have a 1995 Honda Magna with a OEM helmet lock. How do I use it. Do I need a cable or is there something that is to go on my helmet? It seem very close to the exhaust pipe.

you can get extenders to make your locks longer they are basically just a peice of metal looks like a arrow and usually chromed if you look at the back of a goldwing next time you see one that is what is hanging under the trunk.  and yes helmet locks work.   but if your helmet is too close to the pipes i wouldnt sue them just cause i wouldnt want to burn the helmet

You hook it to the chin strap (the metal loop).
